Olfactory Detection Port ODP4

The new ODP4 olfactory port (sniff port) from GERSTEL allows sensory detection by the human nose at the exit of the analytical column simultaneously with mass spectrometry detection to identify odors or odor defects from food, packaging or other complex samples. With speech recognition and recording software, the analyst can describe his assessments in real time, which are recorded and converted into text. The chromatogram, olfactogram and comments are archived in a file and can be included in an analysis report.

The ODP 4 has a heated and very inert mixing chamber with excellent yield and sensitive odor detection, even for less volatile and polar compounds.

The gas supply can be reduced at a very low speed, with or without humidification, for better sensitivity and comfort for the analyst. The ODP 4 is easy and flexible to install and can be used with or without a glass cone that offers perfect ergonomics.

The new ODI software (Olfactory Data Interpreter) enables a fast and reliable identification of odors by matching sensory evaluation to GCMS data (retention time and MS identification).

With the ODP 4, GC fractions can be collected on an adsorption tube and collected from different injections for further analysis.
